The annual JapanDreamscapes Essence of Autumn Photography workshop always includes iconic Mt. Fuji. In our Japan photo workshop leaders’ opinion, if an international photographer or traveler only visits Japan once, then they must include Mt. Fuji as a destination. Mount Fuji and the surrounding foothills contain several power spots, and because the Mt. Fuji region is in our agency’s backyard, our workshop leaders have visited it countless times, and they are familiar with many of the power spots and the spiritual benefits they provide. This is part of the reason that Mt. Fuji is a part of the JDS annual Cherry Blossom photo tour, the annual JDS Autumn Leaves photo workshop, and a destination we recommend for any private Japan photo workshop that our team leads no matter what theme of photography a potential client is interested in. Visiting Mt. Fuji in the spring means introducing participants to the various cherry blossoms like the Somei yoshino, (Prunus yedoensis), shidarezakura (Prunus serrulata), the weeping sakura variety, as well as countless others. During the autumn, at several locations around the Fuji Five Lakes, participants can enjoy the unparalleled beauty of an autumn collage built of the reds, golds, oranges, and rare purple maple leaves as they transform into their autumn colors, and if the weather conditions are right, maybe even a dragon or two in one of Japan’s sea of clouds. In winter, Mt. Fuji and the entire region are transformed into a winter wonderland, the most enticing photographic opportunity being the snow capped volcanic peak Mt. Fuji. Because our workshop leaders have spent more than two decades exploring, spotting, and photographing Mt. Fuji, they know the best locations during any season to take participants away from the tourist pollution that has been on the rise lately. Some of the most memorable winter photos are from blue or golden hour photography sessions before any of the local fishermen take their boats out onto the Fuji Five Lakes, and everyone on the workshop happens to catch the ‘mirror Mt. Fuji’ effect. Anytime you want to see authentic Mt. Fuji with the assistance of a pro photographer, contact JDS, and we’ll make your photographic dreams a reality.
