Once autumn comes to Japan, Japan Photography Tours are often focused on the wooded areas around the country, and those areas are defined by their balance. The spring tours and the cherry blossoms are what first comes to mind when thinking of Japan’s natural offerings, but at Japan Dreamscapes (JDS), we are thinking that the fall and the colored leaves autumn festivals have the potential to replace the cherry blossoms as the most photogenic natural elements of Japan.
In fall, the colored leaves from the forests and glades surrounding Japan’s iconic peak on the Mt. Fuji Photo Tours as well as Kyoto and Osaka, are famous all over the world, but there are so many more photo ops off the beaten path where you can enjoy and photograph nature establishing a balance between summer and fall. Some trees hold onto their green leaves for as long as they can refusing to relinquish their color, holding their summer foliage well into autumn. Other trees seem happy to speedily transform into their fall incarnations and showcase the rich reds, vibrant oranges, and sparkling golds that signify the arrival of the autumn. The colored leaves create a spectacular invitation for you to witness them firsthand. These moments are fleeting, so it’s time to seize the opportunity to create your personal gallery of natural balance from Japan.
Spending time outdoors and enjoying nature in the blue hour and golden hour are also parts of each Japan Photo Workshop that we at Japan Dreamscapes (JDS) truly enjoy. The light especially during golden hour seems to magnify the beauty of the autumn colored leaves. And just as the blue hour changes to golden hour, you can photograph the same scene and have remarkably different results. The unpredictable element of nature is part of what makes photography an art. Your JDS Japan Photo Tour Leader will help you seize those unpredictable moments and harness the power of nature for your lens.
You may be worried about capturing an amazing photo with your camera, but the JDS workshop leaders are always available during tours to answer questions and help you capture pictures that you will be happy with. Sometimes all it takes is one small rethink to your approach to make a photo extraordinary. And even after the tour has ended and you’ve visited locations such as Kawaguchiko or another of the Fuji Five Lakes, or perhaps the colored leaves on the Nikko Photo Tour, you can still contact the JDS team and ask questions if you need help cataloging your once in a lifetime memories.
If this season’s invitation has arrived too suddenly, then JDS holds the same tour at similar times from this year until 2021, so if you’d like to join a tour, please contact us so JDS can make your autumn photography tour dreams a reality.
